Olmo 40mg (Olmesartan Medoxomil) is used as an antihypertensive either alone or in combination with other drugs. It helps to relax blood vessels and increases circulation, thereby reducing the effort needed by the heart to pump blood. By reducing blood pressure, it decreases a patientÍs susceptibility to heart attacks, heart failure, heart blocks, strokes, and even kidney failure.
Dosage and Administration
Olmo 40mg (Olmesartan medoxomil) should be used exactly as instructed by the doctor to prevent the occurrence of dangerous side effects. The starting dose is usually 20mg and increases according to the complexity of the disease. Children between 6 and 16 years of age are given doses of up to 10 mg. It is to be given under supervision for patients who have renal or hepatic impairment and also to those who are on diuretics. This medicine can be taken with or without food but always with a glass of water.

There could be alcohol or food reaction with this drug. Olmesartan medoxomil may also interact with aspirin, Celebrex and Lyrica. It is also known to interact with diet pills, potassium supplements and salt substitutes, cold medicines and other stimulants.
