Finalo 1mg is a prescription medicine used primarily to treat male pattern baldness (also known as androgenetic alopecia) that occurs in the middle of the crown or scalp. The active ingredient in this drug is Finasteride.
Finalo 1mg prevents testosterone from being converted to dihydrotestosterone which is known to cause hair loss. Therefore, this drug promotes hair growth. When prescribed in a higher dose, this drug may also be used as a hormone replacement therapy for men or to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy.
Dosage and Administration
Finalo 1mg must be taken under the guidance of a medical practitioner. The general recommend dosage is 1 tablet per day. The correct dosage however depends on the patient’s condition and response to the treatment. The tablet is swallowed whole with plenty of water and can be taken with or without meals. It may take up to 3 months before you see any visible effect.
Finalo 1mg (Finasteride) can cause quite a few side effects in patients especially because it is a hormone replacement therapy drug. While the symptoms listed below are fairly normal, you will need to see a doctor if they are persistent or tend to worsen during the period of your treatment. They are:
- Difficulty in swallowing or breathing
- Testicular pain
- Tenderness or enlargement of the breast
- Nipple discharge
- Erectile dysfunction
- Decreased libido
- Decreased volume of semen
Finalo 1mg should be taken only as directed by your physician. This medication is only for men. Do not:
- Begin your treatment without a thorough check up and discussion of your medical history with your doctor first
- Modify your dosage without talking with your doctor
- Stop your medication without consulting your doctor. Stopping of the medication can cause loss of all re grown hair within a year
Pregnant women should not handle this medication as it can be absorbed into the skin and can be fatal to the fetus. You should also discuss the risks of getting male breast cancer or prostate cancer, on account of using this medicine, with your doctor.
Drug interactions with Finasteride:
The medication could affect the accuracy / readings of the blood tests that are used to detect prostate cancer. Ensure that the laboratory you visit is aware of the fact that you are taking this medication.
