Ventolin Inhaler (Salbutamol) is an inhaler form of Salbutamol containing 100 mcg per inhaler. Salbutamol is prescribed to treat patients with bronchospasm. The medication is used in patients with obstructive airways. The inhaler helps to relax muscles present within the airways, thereby enhancing air flow into lungs. Inhaling the medication also helps to prevent bronchospasm that is induced by exercise.
Dosage and Administration
Ventolin Inhaler (Salbutamol) is an inhaler that should be used only as per prescribed amounts by your doctor. Ensure that you do not self-medicate and ingest larger amounts of the drug as it could be fatal. If using it the very first time, make sure to prime the device by spraying it four times into the surrounding air. Make sure the device is away from your face when doing so. It is important to shake the device properly before priming. You should also prime the device in case you have gone two weeks or more without using Salbutamol.
Dosage is dependent on your condition and will be advised by your doctor. Generally, the recommended dosage will be 100 mcg applied once daily. Uncap the device mouthpiece and make sure to breathe out all air completely. Place the mouthpiece inside your mouth and close the lips. Push down the canister and slowly breathe in. Hold in your breath for around 10 seconds and subsequently slowly breathe out.
