Nodict is available as 50mg tablets consisting of the active ingredient, Naltrexone Hydrochloride. It has been shown to inhibit the high or euphoric feeling individuals get from drinking alcohol or taking opiate drugs. It has been shown to be at its best when used by patients who have successfully overcome their dependency. It can be used along with other addiction prevention medications for long-term treatment of narcotics and alcohol dependency.

Dosage and Administration

Nodict (Naltrexone Hydrochloride) is taken orally usually as one 50mg tablet every day or as directed by the physician. It can be taken with or without food, but for patients prone to stomach irritations or upsets, it may be best if taken along with food, water or even an antacid. The appropriate dosage and treatment period will be determined by your physician and is based on the condition of individual patients and their response to this therapy. Normally, your doctor may start you off on a lower dose and then increase it to 50mg for up to a maximum of 12 weeks, if there are no adverse symptoms.

 Side Effects

Some of the side effects of using Nodict 50mg are:

  • nausea
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • tiredness
  • anxiety
  • insomnia
  • constipation
  • vomiting
  • increased thirst
  • stomach irritation
  • irregular heartbeat

 For some patients, opiate withdrawal symptoms need to be reported to their doctors immediately. These may include:

  • severe abdominal cramps
  • diarrhea
  • joints/muscle pain
  • hallucinations
  • anxiety
  • sleeping problems
  • mood changes



Before starting a regime of Nodict 50mg (Naltrexone Hydrochloride), you should inform your doctor of any ongoing allergies and other treatments to ensure there are no adverse allergic reactions.

Other information to be given to the physician should include whether you:

  • have recently taken any opioid drugs such as methadone,  morphine and/or buprenorphine
  • are pregnant or trying to conceive
  • breastfeeding
  • have had kidney disease
  • have had liver disease

 Naltrexone Hydrochloride has a tendency to cause dizziness, so it is not advisable to drive, operate heavy machinery or perform activities requiring alertness. Use of alcoholic beverages during treatment is strictly prohibited.

 Drug Interactions with Nodict 50mg:

 Certain drugs may interact with this medication.

  • Some cough medications may have adverse reactions, like disulfiram and/or dextromethorphan.
  • Narcotic medications containing hydrocodone, codeine, propoxyphene, etc.
  • Diarrhea medication containing diphenoxylate.

Laboratory testing results could be affected; doctor/laboratory personnel should be informed.
