Lyrica 150mg (pregabalin) works as an anticonvulsant by slowing down the impulses that causes partial onset seizures. It helps with pain caused by shingles, fibromyalgia, spinal cord injury, and diabetic neuropathy by acting on the chemicals that cause the brain to send pain signals to the nervous system. Lyrica is effective as an adjunctive therapy for partial onset seizures in adults.

Dosage and Administration

Lyrica 150mg is usually taken as 150 mg a day. The dosing increases according to the intensity of the disease as well as the disease it is being taken for. It is taken orally with or without food. A gradual tapering of the drug is advised while discontinuing it.

Side effects

The most common side effects associated with Lyrica 150mg are:

  • Dizziness
  • Angioedema
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Peripheral edema
  • Increased seizure if it is stopped abruptly.
  • Dry mouth

Drug Interactions with Lyrica 150mg

Anti-histamines, anti-psychotics, narcotic pain relievers, general anesthetic, clonidine, buspirone, ropinirole, muscle relaxants, zolpidem, tramadol, and barbiturates are some of the many drugs that may interact with pregabalin.  Therefore, it is important to inform your doctor if you are on any other medication, so that the doctor can advise you correctly.
