Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/Emtricitabine or Tenvir-EM is used either as a first line of treatment for HIV patients, or for patients who have already received some kind of treatment before. Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/Emtricitabine is administered as a fixed dose combined with other medication to help treat HIV infections in patients over the age of 18. The primary function of this drug is to slow down the HIV virus thereby limiting its ability to spread. This in turn allows the CD4 cells to increase giving the patient’s immune system a chance to recover and therefore stopping the disease from progressing.
Dosage and Administration
Tenvir-EM should be taken strictly in accordance with the prescription given to you by your physician or pharmacist. The dosage varies from case to case, but most often it is one tablet taken once a day with some water with or without food.
