Active Ingredient

Marketed Name

Estrofem 2mg is prescribed to women whose ovaries are not producing enough estrogen. Its active ingredient, Oestradiol makes up for this deficiency, thereby decreasing, or completely treating, the symptoms associated with it.

Estrofem 2mg is a Hormone Replacement Therapy drug and is used to treat women with menopausal symptoms like vaginal burning, irritation and dryness or hot flashes. It is also prescribed to women who have undergone a hysterectomy or to post menopausal women to prevent osteoporosis.

Dosage and Administration

Estrofem 2mg is to be swallowed with a glass of water and can be taken with or without a meal. The dosage for this medication depends solely on your condition and therefore it should be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

For women who have had a hysterectomy, the dosage is generally one tablet a day for 28 days. The next pack is started depending on the doctor’s instructions. If you have not had a hysterectomy, the course usually begins on the 5th day of your cycle. Your doctor may also combine this with other medication. If the drug is being used to treat cancer, the usual dosage is one tablet three times a day for a minimum of 3 months.

Estrofem 2mg (Oestradiol) has side effects that are transient for most patients and are generally only experienced during the first few months of treatment. These could be:

  • Breast tenderness
