Dideral (Propranolol Hydrochloride) is available in tablet form of 50 tablets per pack which contains the active ingredient, propranolol hydrochloride at 40 mg strength. Dideral is prescribed mainly to patients who are suffering from cardiac problems, tremors, chest pain, heart rhythm issues, hypertension, and pheochromocytoma. It is also used to prevent heart attacks as well as to lessen the frequency and strength of migraine attacks.

Dosage and Administration

Dideral-40mg (Propranolol Hydrochloride) is usually swallowed whole with water or other fluids, but it can be taken with or without food. It is preferable to take the medication at the same time each day.

Dideral is taken 2 to 4 times daily, but different medical conditions require a different dose regimen, and that will be decided by the treating physician based on the individual patient’s condition and their response to this therapy. It may also be prescribed to patients who have had a recent heart attack to prevent any angina attacks and improve their general well-being.

Side Effects

Dideral-40mg (Propranolol Hydrochloride) may cause adverse side effects in some patients, the most common ones being:

  • fatigue
  • insomnia
  • nausea and vomiting
  • lightheadedness
  • upset stomach
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
  • decreased libido

In cases where the symptoms persist or worsen, it is advisable to stop the medication and contact your physician or get emergency medical help immediately.

Symptoms may include:

  • allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, swelling of the face, tongue, lips or throat
  • sudden mood changes
  • hallucinations
  • swelling of feet or ankles
  • chest pain
  • blurry vision


Dideral-40mg may not be indicated in patients with symptoms of severe heart failure, asthma, and arrhythmia. Before starting this medication, your doctor should be advised if you are:

  • pregnant
  • trying to conceive
  • breastfeeding
  • allergic to this medication, its ingredients or any other allergies
  • suffering from any other medical conditions
  • using other drugs
  • using any herbal supplements, minerals or vitamins

Drug interactions with Dideral-40mg

These drugs may interact with this medication:

  • warfarin and/or Coumadin and other blood thinners
  • Amitriptyline, clomipramine, and other antidepressants
  • hypertensive medications such as doxazosin
  • prostate medications such as terazosin
  • amiodarone, diltiazem, propafenone and other cardiac medications
  • nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, aspirin, diclofenac
  • steroid medications such as prednisone
