It is also used to treat or prevent heart attacks and to decrease the severity as well as the frequency of migraine headaches. It helps with angina by decreasing its frequency and intensity. It helps to control hypertension.
Dosage and Administration
Inderal 40mg is to be taken exactly as the doctor ordered it. It is not advised to play around with the dosage or duration without doctor’s orders. It may be taken with or without food but you must take it in the same way and at the same time each time. The tablet should not be crushed, broken, or chewed but swallowed whole. Your blood pressure should be checked while you are on this medication. You are not allowed to take extra medication to make up for missed doses. This may result in an overdose with symptoms like dizziness, change in heartbeats, and weakness.

Inderal 40mg should not be taken if you are allergic to any of the components of the medicine including Propranolol. Patients suffering from heart conditions such as sick sinus syndrome or AV block (it is ok if you have a pacemaker), asthma, or even a slow heart rate should avoid taking this medication. Alcohol should be avoided as it may increase the level of Propranolol in your blood stream. Shift in positions should be undertaken slowly when on this medication. It may need to be stopped if you are going to undergo surgery and therefore the surgeon should be informed in your preop visits.
