Frusenex 100 is used to remove the excess water which causes swelling. Symptoms of hyper tension, chronic kidney failure, nephritic syndrome, cirrhosis or heart failure are treated with this medication. This type of loop diuretic is also called a water pill as it helps in preventing the body absorb excess salts and decreases fluid retention which is caused by the above mentioned illnesses. The surplus salts are passed out of the system through the urine.

Dosage And Administration

Frusenex 100 should be taken only under the doctor’s guidance. The normal dosage is one tablet every morning but in some cases you will be required to take two a day: one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

Frusemide should be taken for as long as it has been prescribed even if you feel better after a few tablets. It is recommended to take the medicine early in the morning to avoid a disturbed sleep at night as you may have to make repeated visits to the toilet.

Side Effects

Drug Interaction with Frusemide

These are some of the interactions of Frusemide with other drugs.

  • It may antagonize muscle relaxants.
  • Causes hyperglycemia when used with diazoxide, an anti-hypertensive agent.
  • Raises the possibility of ototoxicity when aminoglycosides are used along with it.
  • Drugs used for gout and hypoglycemic agents may be antagonized.
