Asthalin-4 mg (Salbutamol) is offered as 4-mg tablets or strips and is used to help those with asthma and COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is classified as a bronchodilator as well as a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist receptor which works by relaxing the respiratory airways and helps patients to breathe easier. It is very effective in controlling wheezing and shortness of breath. It can also be used to reduce exercise-induced bronchospasms.

Dosage and Administration

Asthalin-4 (Salbutamol) is available as 4-mg tablets which is to be taken 3 to 4 times daily, as a whole tablet with a glass of water. Individual dosages may differ based on your individual health condition and your physician’s recommendations.

The prescribed dosage of this medication has to be continued till the doctor asks you to discontinue taking it. The duration depends on your response to the therapy. The normal recommended dosage is a single 4 mg tablet. In the event that you miss your daily dose, do not double the dosage to cover for the missing dose. It is advisable to take the missing dose as soon as you remember it, and then continue with your next normal dose.

Side Effects

The most common side effects associated with taking Asthalin-4 (Salbutamol) include:

  • dizziness
  • headache
  • rapid heartbeat or tachycardia
  • tremors
  • throat and mouth irritation
  • muscle cramps
  • insomnia
  • diarrhea
  • increased sweating

 If any of the above-mentioned symptoms persist, you should stop taking this medication and see your physician. However, if you experience severe allergic reactions to the medication such as swelling of the face, throat, lips or tongue, severe itching, and low blood pressure, then seek emergency medical attention immediately.

 Other symptoms could include:

  • difficulty swallowing
  • shortness of breath and/or chest pain
  • rashes or hives


Prior to taking Asthalin-4 you should inform the doctor if you are allergic to Salbutamol.

Before starting a course of this medication, you should inform the doctor if you:

  • are pregnant or trying to conceive
  • are breastfeeding
  • have allergies
  • have kidney or liver disease
  • are on prescription and non-prescription medications
  • are on vitamins and herbal supplements
  • have any cardiac history

Drug interactions with Asthalin-4

The following medications may interact with Salbutamol:

  • non-selective beta-blockers such as propranolol
  • theophylline or aminophylline
  • beclometasone and prednisolone, corticosteroids
  • other beta-2 agonists such as salmeterol
  • diuretics such as furosemide
