S Citadep 10mg (Escitalopram Oxalate) treats major depressive disorders and symptoms associated with depression. It is also used to treat generalized anxiety disorder. Escitalopram Oxalate belongs to the group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). These drugs are known to treat major depressive disorders and related symptoms by acting on the central nervous system. The drug works by altering the chemical balance in the brain, i.e. by increasing the serotonin concentration. This increase relieves depression symptoms like decreased energy levels, mood swings and loss of appetite etc.
Dosage and Administration
S Citadep 10mg is prescribed to patients depending on the seriousness of their condition. The dosage for an adult can vary between 10 mg to 20 mg a day. The tablet is to be swallowed whole along with a glass of water and is either taken in the morning or at bed time – according to the physician’s advice. The dose of a patient who is on 10 mg/day can be increased to 20 mg/day, after 3 weeks, if the doctor feels the need to do so. Do not take a higher dose than what has been prescribed for you.
S Citadep 10mg has side effects that are similar to most antidepressants and while most of them are not serious, you must report them to your physician to be sure that there is nothing to worry about. Side effects to watch out for are:

Drug interactions with Escitalopram Oxalate
Drugs that cause serious reactions if taken together with this medication are antidepressants like monoamine oxidase inhibitors and warfarin that affects the clotting of the blood. Analgesics, mood alteration drugs, migraine medication and weight reduction medication all interfere with effect of the drug in the system.
